I was just driving. It was dark and warm outside, one of the first hot nights of spring. Suddenly my sound system decided to play a song I never heard before. It sounded cool, a bit weird and nerdy, just the way I like it. Turned out to be ‘Krautrock’ by Faust, the song that gave a whole genre its name. I started thinking about Faust, the character, incarnation of evil. Robert Johnson famously sold his soul to the Devil at a local crossroads of Mississippi highways to achieve success, but my interest was not mythical, or literary, not this time. In my mind I started connecting the evil of man with music, all in a very intuitive way. This playlist is the result of that free association. Yes, it is dramatic, and no, you will not find a lot of up-beat songs on this list. Still, enjoy if you dare.
